Lady's Finger Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus), have a long ornamental seed pod, that may be par-boiled and fried, or added to stews, soups or curries. Relatively mild, they add a very distinctive flavour to all these dishes. This variety is vigorous and produces large crops.
How To Grow:
- Prepare the soil well by adding organic material and a complete fertiliser.
- Sow 6mm deep in seed tray or punnet, in seed raising mix or compost. Keep moist.
- Thin out and transplant into final position when about 10cm tall.
- Space plants 50-60cm (20-24in) apart.
When To Plant: Early Spring to early Summer.
Harvest: 4-5 days after flowers have opened.
