Niwaki Garden Snips are your perfect everyday, can’t-live-without snips. They’re absolutely brilliant for flowers, fruit and veg, but they’re not nearly as tough as secateurs — made for green growth only, not woody pruning. The slender blades slip right in for careful, precise snipping, and the red-and-white handles are wonderfully easy to spot when you (almost inevitably) leave them lying around somewhere.

CARING FOR YOUR TOOLS
Most of Niwaki's sharp tools are crafted from carbon steel. To keep your tools in good condition and ensure they last for many years of use, they require some simple but regular maintenance. Here are some usage & care tips, to help you get the most out of your tools...
Usage:
- Japanese steel is hard and sharp. To avoid chips and preserve the steel edge, do not cut wire, metal, stone, or plastic.
- Do not twist or apply uneven pressure
- It’s better to cut diagonally across branches (not straight across), so you cut along the fibres
- For heavier cuts, make sure you’re using the base of the blades (not the tips)
Care:
- Remove leaf resin, rust and gunk with a Crean Mate and water
- Dry, wipe over with Camellia Oil and store in a dry place
- Sharpen when needed (secateurs can be sharpened every couple of weeks, shears & topiary clippers after every use to see an incredible difference).
