The Niwaki Mini Secateurs are perfect for flower arranging, greenhouse tasks and ‘back pocket’ jobs. They may be small but they pack a big punch! Hand-forged in Japan, these secateurs are great to have on hand.

Niwaki Kenzan
The Niwaki Kenzan - or Flower Frog is a great eco alternative to the foam blocks that are often used for flower arranging. Used for traditional ikebana flower displays, Kenzan are becoming increasingly popular in western style flower arrangements. Display your garden blooms beautifully and in any position you like!
The spiky bases are able to hold both woody twigs and softer green stalks. When working with larger twigs or thicker stems, make criss-cross cuts into the bottom of the stem for easier insertion.
The Niwaki Kenzan can be lowered into your favourite vase or saucer and submerged in water.

CARING FOR YOUR TOOLS
Most of Niwaki's sharp tools are crafted from carbon steel. To keep your tools in good condition and ensure they last for many years of use, they require some simple but regular maintenance. Here are some usage & care tips, to help you get the most out of your tools...
Usage:
- Japanese steel is hard and sharp. To avoid chips and preserve the steel edge, do not cut wire, metal, stone, or plastic.
- Do not twist or apply uneven pressure
- It’s better to cut diagonally across branches (not straight across), so you cut along the fibres
- For heavier cuts, make sure you’re using the base of the blades (not the tips)
Care:
- Remove leaf resin, rust and gunk with a Crean Mate and water
- Dry, wipe over with Camellia Oil and store in a dry place
- Sharpen when needed (secateurs can be sharpened every couple of weeks, shears & topiary clippers after every use to see an incredible difference).
