If you're looking for a pair of sharp, beautiful secateurs that are easy to use, these Compact Secateurs are just be what you need. Designed to fit comfortably in your hand, these secateurs offer the flexibility to alternate between using your fingers and the scissors—ideal for pruning trees or plants that require both techniques. A favorite among Japanese gardeners, they’re perfect for delicate tasks like trimming the new buds of pines, where precision and control are key.

Perfect for Smaller Hands One of the standout features of the Compact Secateurs is its thoughtful, inclusive design. These aren’t just any scissors—they’re built for a range of gardeners, particularly those with smaller hands. Designed by a female Japanese garden expert, the secateurs are perfect for anyone who finds traditional secateurs too bulky. With handles that don’t open as wide, they offer an easy grip for precise cutting, even when using just one hand.

Despite their compact size, these scissors are sharp and highly effective, allowing for controlled cuts on leaves and thin stems. Their ergonomic design ensures comfort, even with extended use, and helps prevent hand strain.

An Inclusive, Comfortable Design Measuring 17cm in total length, the Compact Secateurs are smaller and lighter than many other secateurs, weighing about a third less. The thinner handles make them easier to grip, which is great for people with limited hand strength, such as young gardeners, seniors, or individuals with disabilities. With their accessible design, these secateurs are a perfect choice for anyone who needs a tool that’s both functional and comfortable.

Crafted with Expertise Made in Japan, the Compact Secateurs are a collaboration between the renowned garden tool regions of Miki, Hyogo, and Sanjo, Niigata. Crafted from S55C steel, a durable alloy known for its toughness, these secateurs are built to last. Handcrafted by skilled artisans in Niigata, each pair of secateurs is designed to maintain sharpness and exceptional quality for years to come.

A Tradition of Craftsmanship Japan’s reputation for high-quality, specialized garden tools is reflected in these compact secateurs. Although designed with female gardeners in mind, they’re a great choice for anyone who wants a tool that fits perfectly in their hand and allows for greater precision and control. You won’t need to keep these secateurs in a holster—they’re designed for easy, on-the-go use, letting you get closer to your work and tackle delicate tasks with ease.

The Meaning Behind the Logo The Compact Secateurs "Dainty" come in an elegant charcoal box, making them a wonderful gift. The box features the logo “Ken-Katabami”—with "Ken" meaning sword and "Katabami" meaning the flower wood sorrel. The wood sorrel is a symbol of resilience in Japanese culture, representing strength and endurance, much like the durability and longevity of these scissors.
