Influence the shape of your bonsai tree by 'wiring', a technique that lets you slowly bend and change the shape of branches over time. Wiring involves coiling wire around the branches of your bonsai tree and gently bending the branch into the desired shape. After several months, you can remove the wire and the branch should be set in it's new position.
As a general rule, your bonsai wire should be around 1/3 of the thickness of the branch you are wrapping.

A few bonsai wiring tips...
- Coils should be wrapped at a 45 degree angle
- Make sure the coils make contact with the branch all the way around
- Don't make the coils to loose or tight
- Bench the branch in one single movement; don't keep playing with it
- If wiring during growth seasons, keep an eye on the wire as you don't want the branch to grow around the wire and dig in
- Don't unwind the wire when removing - use wire cutters to snip the wire off at each turn
