The Pukekohe Long Keeper Onion (Allium cepa) are golden spheres, with white flesh, and are a staple for every pantry. These beauties store for up to 10 months, are slow to bolt, and produce well in heavily manured and well dug sites.
How To Grow:
- Prepare the soil well by adding organic material like manure and a pre-planting fertiliser
- Sow thinly, 5mm deep in rows 20cm apart.
- Cover with fine soil or compost and keep moist.
- Thin seedlings early to 2cm and later to 10cm apart.
- Allow 20cm between rows.
When To Plant:
- South Island: Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug
- North Island: Mar, Apr, May, Jun, Jul, Aug
